The Story Behind advisoRadio
A company created by someone like you, another financial service industry professional! advisoRadio was founded by Gerry Dougherty, a financial advisor located in Massachusetts. Gerry began working in the financial service industry in 1986. He began as a “career agent” with a mutual life insurance company and established himself as a standout producer. He was quickly promoted into management roles and spend 25 years as a General Agent (GA) for several large, career companies.
As the industry evolved, so too did Gerry. He became progressively more independent, breaking away from the constrains of a “captive agent” structure, gravitating to the autonomy of an independent model.
In 2013,
Gerry launched his radio program, Making Money Last- America’s Retirement Resource, heard on WCRN, a 50,000 watt radio station located in central Massachusetts. Initially, the show aired once-per- week, on Sunday mornings. It was well received. In 2014, his show was expanded to twice-per-week, Monday and Friday mornings and remained on the schedule for the next 4 years.
In 2018,
Making Money Last was expanded again, to 5 days per week, Monday through Friday, 11 am to noon. The show has become a fixture in the station’s weekday line-up of programs.
In the 6 years that Making Money Last has been on-air,
many competing financial shows have come-and-gone, none having the same audience appeal. The BIG difference has been Making Money Last’s content. Each show is written by Gerry, drawing on his 3 decades of experience in the financial service industry and his specific focus on retirement planning topics.
Gerry is a skilled writer. In 2016, he published his first book titled Uncomplicated Money, which is available on Amazon.com.
In each show, Gerry explains important financial concepts by telling entertaining stories that relate to retirees’ own lives. Humor and music are brought into most segments making them memorable and conveying a sense of personal connection between the show host and the audience.
